Quick Start: Your First Project in 5 Minutes

This page gets you from zero to your first processed result as fast as possible. For detailed explanations of each step, see the full guide.

1. Create Your Account (1 minute)

  1. Go to cloud.lidarvisor.com and click Register.
  2. Fill in your name, email, and password.
  3. Check your email and click the activation link.
  4. Log in.

You start with 10 free hectares of processing credits — no credit card needed.

2. Upload Your Data (1–10 minutes depending on file size)

  1. Click Create a project in the top toolbar.
  2. Give your project a name.
  3. Select your LAS or LAZ file.
  4. Click Import project.

Lidarvisor handles the rest — it uploads, tiles for 3D viewing, and reads your file's metadata automatically. When it's done, your point cloud appears in the 3D viewer.

Don't have LiDAR data yet? Click My projects to explore the pre-loaded demo projects, or click "Find free LiDAR data" in the Create Project panel.

3. Explore Your Point Cloud (1 minute)

While you wait for processing, get familiar with the viewer:

  • Left-click + drag to rotate
  • Scroll to zoom
  • Right-click + drag to pan
  • Click the crosshair button (left side) to center the view on your data

4. Process Your Data (a few minutes to an hour)

  1. In the left panel, scroll down to the Processing Options.
  2. For your first time, keep it simple: the AI classification runs automatically, and you can add a DTM (terrain model) by checking Generate DTM.
  3. Click Process Data at the bottom.
  4. Confirm the credit cost in the dialog.

Tip: Enable as many outputs as you want — the credit cost is the same regardless of how many options you turn on. It's based purely on the area of your dataset.

Processing runs on Lidarvisor's cloud servers. You can close your browser and come back later — you'll get an email when it's done.

5. View Your Results

Once processing completes:

  1. Switch the visualization mode to Classification (dropdown on the point cloud node in the left panel) to see your data colored by class — ground in brown, vegetation in green, buildings in red, etc.
  2. Expand the Classified Point Cloud node to toggle individual classes on and off.
  3. Check the DTM layer to see a hillshade terrain surface.

6. Download or Share

  • Click the download icon next to any result in the project tree to get it in standard formats (GeoTIFF, DXF, Shapefile, GeoJSON, PDF).
  • Click Share in the toolbar to generate a link — anyone can view your project in 3D without an account.

Common First-Time Questions

How many credits will this cost? 1 credit = 1 hectare (about the size of a soccer field). The confirmation dialog tells you the exact cost before processing starts.

What if the classification doesn't look right? You can manually correct points with the built-in editing tools, or re-process with the same credits if there was an error (failed processing is automatically refunded).

Can I re-process with more options later? Yes. You can run processing again and select additional outputs. Each run consumes credits based on the area.
