Sharing Projects
Show your clients the results in 3D — no email attachments, no software installations, no accounts required. Just send a link and they can explore the full point cloud, terrain models, and vector overlays in their browser.
How Sharing Works
When you share a project, Lidarvisor generates a unique link. Anyone who opens this link can view the project in a 3D viewer — no login, no account, no software installation required. They just need a web browser.
The shared view includes:
- The full 3D point cloud viewer
- The project tree with all processed assets (classified point cloud, terrain models, vectors)
- The ability to toggle layers on and off, rotate, zoom, and pan
The shared view does not include:
- Upload or processing capabilities
- Download buttons
- Editing tools
- Access to your other projects or account
In other words, it is a read-only view of one specific project.
How to Share a Project
- Load the project you want to share by clicking View in your project list.
- Click the Share button in the top toolbar (the share icon).
- A panel opens on the right showing a share URL.
- Click "Copy link" to copy the URL to your clipboard.
- Paste the link into an email, chat message, document, or anywhere else.
A confirmation banner appears when the link has been copied.
What the Recipient Sees
When someone opens your share link, they see:
- A full-screen 3D viewer with your point cloud loaded
- A left panel with the project tree showing all available assets
- Standard viewer controls (rotate, zoom, pan, 2D/3D toggle, background maps)
They can:
- Explore the point cloud in 3D
- Toggle classification classes on and off
- Switch visualization modes (RGB, Classification, Intensity, Elevation)
- View terrain models and vector overlays
They cannot:
- Download any files
- Edit classifications
- Start new processing
- See your account details or other projects
Who Can See My Shared Project?
Anyone with the link. The share URL does not require authentication, so treat it like you would any shared link — only send it to people you want to have access.
The link contains a unique token, so it is not guessable. However, if you share the link publicly (e.g., on social media or a website), anyone who sees it can view the project.
Data Security
- Your data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
- Files are stored in enterprise-grade cloud storage (Google Cloud)
- You retain full ownership of your data at all times
- Sharing a project does not give anyone access to download the raw files — it only provides a visual, read-only experience
Use Cases for Sharing
| Scenario | How to Use |
|---|---|
| Client review | Send the link so your client can explore the survey results before you deliver the final files |
| Team collaboration | Share with colleagues who need to see the data but do not need their own Lidarvisor account |
| Project proposals | Include the link in a proposal to show potential clients what your deliverables look like |
| Remote support | Share with Lidarvisor support when reporting an issue |
| Education | Share interesting datasets with students or peers for learning purposes |
Revoking Access
Currently, the share link remains active as long as the project exists. To stop sharing:
- Delete the project — this removes all access
- Contact support if you need to regenerate the share token without deleting the project
Tips
- The shared viewer uses the same 3D engine as the full application, so the recipient's experience depends on their computer and browser capabilities.
- For the best experience, recommend that your recipients use Google Chrome on a computer with a reasonable graphics card.
- The share link points to a specific project — if you re-process the project with different options, the shared view will automatically show the updated results.
