Sharing Projects
Show your clients the results in 3D. No email attachments, no software to install, no account to create. You send a link, and it opens on the view you chose, showing the layers you allow.
How Sharing Works
When you share a project, Lidarvisor creates a share link. Anyone who opens it views the project in a 3D viewer in their browser, with no login and nothing to install.
A share link is not just a URL to your project. You decide, per link:
- What it opens on. The camera angle, the ticked layers and the colouring you had on screen are saved with the link, so your client lands on exactly what you meant them to see.
- Which layers your client can see. Only the layers you tick are sent. The others are not merely hidden: the server refuses to serve them to that link.
- Whether your client can change those layers. Leave it on and they can switch your selection on and off. Turn it off and they see exactly your selection, with no layer panel at all.
- How long it lasts. A year by default, or 90, 30 or 7 days, or never expires.
- Whether it needs a password.
You can create as many links to the same project as you like, each with its own settings. A link to show a client one deliverable and a link to show a colleague everything are two different links.
The shared view never includes upload, processing, editing, downloads, or anything about your account or your other projects.
Creating a Link
- Open the project by clicking View in your project list.
- Set up the viewer the way you want your client to see it: camera angle, layers, colouring.
- Click Share in the top toolbar.
- Click Create a share link.
- Give the link a name if you want one. Only you ever see it; it is there so you can tell your links apart later.
- Tick the layers your client can see, and decide whether they may switch them on and off.
- Open Access if you want to set an expiry date or a password. Both are optional.
- Click Save. The link is copied to your clipboard, ready to paste.
The dialog states what the link will open on: the view you are looking at now. If you want your client to land somewhere else, close the dialog, move the camera, and create the link from there.
Managing Your Links
The Share panel lists every link on the project. Each row shows its name, how many layers it carries, whether it has a password, when it expires and how many times it has been opened.

Revoking is immediate and cannot be undone. Anyone holding that link loses access at once, and they see a page saying the link has been withdrawn. Your other links to the same project are unaffected.
Links you created before this feature existed still work. They appear in this list, and you can revoke them like any other.
What the Recipient Sees
Your client opens the link and gets a full-screen 3D viewer with your point cloud loaded, the layers you allowed, and standard viewer controls (rotate, zoom, pan, 2D/3D, background maps).
If you allowed layer toggling, they also get the layer panel and can switch your selection on and off, change visualisation mode, and view terrain models and vector overlays. If you did not, there is no layer panel at all: they see your selection and nothing else.
They cannot download files, edit classifications, start processing, or see your account or other projects.
If the link needs a password, they are asked for it first. A wrong password says so; the project name is not revealed until the password is right.
Tip: You can also share a camera animation. The viewer's Animations button makes a link that plays a cinematic fly-around when opened. See The 3D Viewer.
Putting Your Logo On It
From the Premium plan, the shared viewer carries your logo instead of ours, and so do the cover of your PDF report and the CAD title block. The page your client opens looks like your deliverable, because it is.
Upload it once, under the profile menu, in Brand. It applies to every project and every link on your account, with nothing to set per project. The page previews it on both backgrounds it will land on, the dark viewer header and the white report cover, so you can see the result before you send anything.
The "Powered by LiDARVISOR" mark stays in the corner of the shared view on every plan.
Everything else on this page, including choosing and locking layers, passwords, expiry dates and embedding, is available on every plan, including the free one.
Embedding the Viewer in Your Site
The Embed action copies an HTML snippet you can paste into your own website. The embedded viewer honours everything the link carries: the same allowed layers, the same expiry, the same password.
Who Can See My Shared Project?
Anyone holding the link, unless you set a password. The URL contains an identifier that is not guessable, but it is not a secret you can take back once sent, so treat it like any shared link and send it only to people you want to have access.
If a link gets out, revoke it. That is what revoke is for, and it takes effect immediately.
Data Security
- Data is transmitted over HTTPS, encrypted in transit
- Files are stored in enterprise-grade cloud storage (Google Cloud)
- You keep full ownership of your data at all times
- A share link never gives access to the raw files, only a visual, read-only view
- Layer restrictions are enforced by the server, not by hiding things in the browser
- Password attempts on a link are rate-limited, so a short password cannot be guessed by a script

Tips
- The shared viewer uses the same 3D engine as the full application, so your recipient's experience depends on their computer and browser. Chrome on a machine with a reasonable graphics card gives the best result.
- A link points at the project, so if you re-process it the shared view shows the updated results. Layers produced after you created a locked link are not added to it: the link keeps showing exactly the set you approved.
- Send a password separately from the link. A password in the same email protects nothing.
